Supported Living

Graduates receive guidance so they can live in homes of their own and control the course of their lives.  Independent living coaches help persons in their homes about two times per week with everyday needs such as travel, money management, cooking, and health related issues.

"My brother Frank came to live with my family after the death of my widowed mother. With their [ the Conklin Center] assistance he lives in his own apartment, pays his bills, has a job he loves, has a group of friends and can go anywhere he wants." Cindy, graduates sister

Supported Employment

When students graduate from the Conklin Center they are assigned a job coach who assists them by teaching them the specific skills for their new job.  Job coaches assist graduates by helping teach skills on-the-job and resolving job-related issues.  Coaches make semi-monthly visits to the workplace to assess the worker’s and employer’s perceptions of job performance.
